The 407 promises – and delivers – exceptional performance. The interior space of the 407 has been designed to maximise driver and passengers' motoring experience. The 407's tenacious road-holding abilities give you maximum driving pleasure in addition to high levels of manoeuvrability, comfort and safety. Dual wishbone front suspension and a lightweight aluminium front hub provide agile, adept handling that puts you firmly in control. The extreme torsional rigidity of the vehicle's body works together with the multi-arm rear suspension to create a smoother ride.
The 407 comes with a choice of 2 petrol engines - 2.2-litre 4 cylinder and 3.0-litre V6 - and a 2.0-litre HDi turbo diesel engine. Innovative technology makes these engines powerful, clean-burning, smooth and responsive. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 4 or 6-speed Tiptronic automatic (depending on variant).
The 407 also provides driver and passenger protection. Eight airbags provide occupants with highly effective crash protection. The front seats have integrated active anti-whiplash head restraints. The front chassis sub-frame channels crash forces away from occupants.
The 407's active safety technology features extra large brake discs as well as a new generation ESP system that is standard equipment in all models. The ESP system includes an antiskid feature, an anti-lock braking system (ABS), emergency brake assist, a new electronic brake-force distribution arrangement and an electronic stability control system all designed to help you maintain control in all situations.
