In case of under or oversteer, the ESP corrects the car by braking one or more wheels or even by modifying engine torque if necessary.

No less than 8 airbags, along with side impact protection and pyrotechnic front seatbelt pretensioning provide genuine peace of mind. 

Under its sweeping bonnet, lies a magnificent 24-valve, quad cam, 152kW 3.0-litre V6 engine. Whisper quiet, vibration free, poised yet powerful; equally adept at providing low speed torque as well as high speed thrust. This remarkably smooth engine also sets new standards in versatility and environmental cleanliness.

The climate control system enables different settings for the left and right sides of the passenger compartment. Passenger comfort is well thought of as they too enjoy their luxurious leather surrounds, including a wide, padded armrest with two cup holders front and rear.

One of the technological highlights is the advanced adaptive suspension system that allows you at the touch of a button to select between firm (sports) mode and flexible (comfort) mode.

Security is integral to the 607. The new 607 comes with two high frequency remote control keys. These control the locking and unlocking electric actuators on each door. Both HF keys also allow for remote opening of the boot. The 607 is fitted with deadlocks - remotely activated from the key - to maximise anti-theft security.

The 607 boasts rain sensing wipers.  Select 'automatic' and the moment it starts raining, they start working. The windscreen wipers switch on automatically and their speed varies according to the rain's intensity.

Every new Peugeot 607 features electric front and rear windows. These can also be centrally controlled and locked from the driver's position.

In part , the coolness of the interior can be attributed to the athermic windscreen. A metallic oxide layer within the glass significantly reduces the transmission of heat into the cabin by filtering up to 25% of the sun's energy.

The sunroof on the 607 is integrated into the roofline to create a seamless closure. The driver opens and closes it electronically. The sunroof is available as an extra-cost option.

Headlight Delay Security Illumination provides another safety feature. 
 If, for example, you are parking temporarily to open a garage door, your 607's lights will remain on to serve as "guidance" for 50 seconds. The lights automatically switch off once you lock the car via remote control and are safely inside.


The 607 also has the Porsche Tiptronic-System gearbox. There are four conventional positions in the automatic mode. However, selecting the fifth 'sequential' position immediately allows you to change gears manually - push forward to shift up, pull back to shift down.

Finally the 607 has an Advanced Electronic Suspension System
With the press of a button, select between firm (sports) mode and flexible (comfort) mode. In sport mode, agility and precision become the priority with nine separate settings from which the system will select - depending on your speed, the terrain, and your driving style.
